When I started this blog I thought it would be nice to have 7 entries for the fist 7 days of the blog...

then I decided to hang out with my husband for the last two night instead of blogging

{a good choice, I think}

post #3 :: multi...

I love, love, love to multitask

I also love multiuse

so in an effort to make one decoration for our St. Patrick's Day party

involve my kids

have it match my kitchen

and count down to our Legoland trip

{Legoland is discounted for homeschoolers}

we made this paper chain...

it's made from some cute scrap booking papers that have super cute patterns

every other strip was decorated by my kids, husband and myself {family time}

it has the number of rings to match how many days 'til we leave for our trip {so we don't have to count everyday 'cause they're excited}

it's green, which I LOVE, and we made it the day before our party

check, check, check

our paper chain hangs in front of the bookshelf my grandpa made me for my high school graduation which now holds most of our homeschool materials

I am dying to paint it and maybe add some molding and detail to the doors

 so stay tuned

**side note :: one of my favorite multitask/multiuse things is when I have the dishwasher and laundry going while I am doing two or three other things...

post #2 :: big letters

I wanted to make something super cute and colorful for my girl's rooms with this one fabric I found. I loved every color in it, it's one of those that just makes you happy to look at.

I already had their bedspreads then found a paint that matched, but wasn't too girlie, I covered their letter and made a pillow cover too

first I got the large letter from Michael's, let the kids paint the letter {to involve them a bit} then cut different sizes of the fabric that I also used for the pillows and hot glued them on...I then hot glued ribbon, lace and other findings over the top of the fabric pieces where the seams were to make for nice edges and cover odd spots

 without a head board I felt that their pillow selection and letter needed to pop

my first post...a little GREENER

one of my dear friends laura {who has recently moved away, boo hoo!} is a super green girl. her second child was even born on Earth Day, I mean, anyhow she has inspired me to go a little greener.

so I did.

I have wanted to do the {cloth napkin} route but they are just so darn big...with little kids they definitely make MORE of a mess...so I ditched that a few years ago.

well, we're back to them because I had a little idea to make them {littler}

first I cut each napkin in 1/4

i surged the endges

then turned them and bada bing!

4x the napkins

we wash them every week since I made so many {4x to be exact} they even last our family of 5

they have worked out beautifully!
